Do you ever have days, in your life, when your footing is so unsure, that you are feel the need to be extra careful, because  you want to make sure every step (whether great or small), you take that HE is definitely the one directing it….

Oh, the days in the last year, I have felt this way, going thru my divorce, raising Jacob alone, and struggling to find HIS path, for my life…

But then HE reminds me that in HIS mercy, HE does direct our steps…

Psalm 37:23 (KJV)

23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

that righteousness goes before HIM ….

Psalm 85:13 (KJV)

13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

and with such infinite care and compassion….. that HE enlarges  them so we will not slip…..

2 Samuel 22:37 (KJV)

37 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.

Psalm 18:36 (KJV)

36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

Psalm 37:31 (KJV)

31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

and also numbers them…..

Job 31:4 (KJV)

Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

Job 14:16 (KJV)

16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?

Our steps are ordered in HIS Word….

Psalm 119:133 (KJV)

133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

How many days, I have woke up early, with knots in my chest, fearful of starting a new day, wondering which direction to take…..

fearing the future, fearing the effects of my past (the divorce), fearing the feelings of doubt and confusion in my heart….

. and how I so needed HIS guidance and direction, only to feel like HE was turning a deaf ear to my sorrows….

Then again, HE reminds me……

HE IS Omnipotent (HE IS ALL POWERFUL!!!) , Omnipresent (HE IS EVERYWHERE!!!),

HE IS IN EVERYTHING, including my sorrows…

HE IS EVERYTHING!!!

That it is my feelings and emotions coming into play, that my flesh is always fighting against me, and my relationship to the SAVIOUR, so in my imperfect state, I am the one who strays…..

Matthew 26:41 (KJV)

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Galatians 5:17 (KJV)

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

And that I just need to remember that HE promised HE would never leave, nor forsake, and HE never moves; it is ME who moves….

Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Double……

 What started my interest about the word “double” was I was reading in the book of Isaiah, during my night devotion and read that in Isaiah 40:2, GOD gave Israel a “double” punishment for their sin….. I thought,  “WOW…… and you just think you got a whipping…….”

Isaiah 40:2 (AKJV) Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her,  that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned:  for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.

Another one of the references to double punishment is found in Jeremiah…..

Jeremiah 16:18 (KJV) 18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.

Here are a few things about the word “double” in the bible…

The first-born received a double portion of inheritance (if he was the offspring of the hated second wife) (Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible)……

Deuteronomy 21:15-17 (KJV) 15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated: 16 Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn: 17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

Elisha received a double portion of Elijah’s spirit at his request….. (Here is a quote that I thought was fitting from Matthew Henry’s Commentary…. It is a holy ambition to covet earnestly the best gifts, and those which will render us most serviceable to God and our brethren.”)

II Kings 2:9-14 (KJV) And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.  10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.  11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.  12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.  13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;  14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

  This was so powerful, that when Elisha died, and was put in his burial place, that when another person was placed in that place on top of him, the other person came alive……

II Kings 13:21 (AKJV) 21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

Also, Elisha preformed twice the miracles of Elijah, and below are a few more differences between the two prophets:

Elijah was a prophet of the wilderness;
Elisha was a prince of the court.

Elijah had no settled home;
Elisha enjoyed the peace of a home.

Elijah was known by his long hair and shaggy mantle;
Elisha by his staff and bald head.

Elijah was mainly prophetical;
Elisha’s work was mainly miraculous.

Elijah’s ministry was one of stern denunciation;
Elisha’s task was that of teaching and winning.

Elijah was a rebuker of kings;
Elisha was a friend and admirer.

Elijah was a messenger of vengeance;
Elisha was a messenger of mercy.

Elijah represented exclusiveness;
Elisha stood for comprehension.

Elijah was fierce, fiery, energetic;
Elisha was gentle, sympathetic, simple.

Elijah was a solitary figure;
Elisha was more social.

Elijah had an extraordinary disappearance from earth;
Elisha’s death was ordinary.

(Quoted from All the Men of the Bible)

Here is a reference regarding the lack of double heart in the tribe of Zebulun…

1 Chronicles 12:33 (KJV) 33 Of Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war, fifty thousand, which could keep rank: they were not of double heart. (in other words perfect hearted, in one accord, no separate interest but for the common good…..)

GOD’s Wisdom is double…..

Job 11:6 (KJV) and that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is!  (So unsearchable, that we can’t comprehend the secrets of HIS wisdom)
Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth(HE know more of our evil, than we do…..)

If a person was caught as a thief of livestock, he was to restore the stolen property double (two replacements for each one stolen) (Per the Encyclopedia of the Bible/Crimes and Punishments/Robbery and Larceny) …..

Exodus 22:4 (KJV) If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.

If you were found to have stolen your neighbor’s stuff or money, you were to pay back double…..

Exodus 22:7 (KJV) If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.

and my last one…..

A double hired servant……

…..rendered services thru obedience, and usually the term of service was 3 years.  and was like one of the family, whereas a slave was considered property…..  The Israelites were not to send the servant away “empty handed” after his term was up… But they were to remember where GOD brought them from….. out of bondage in Egypt, when they were enslaved, and how GOD didn’t allow them to leave “empty handed”.

Deuteronomy 15:18 (KJV) 18 It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest.

Our Needless Fears….. Mark 4:38 (KJV) 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?  Matthew 14:30 (KJV) 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

When our lives are in danger…. Matthew 8:25 (KJV) 25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

When our body is plagued with sickness…… I Kings 13:6 (KJV) And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.  Luke 9:37-43 (KJV) 37 And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.  38 And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child.  39 And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him.  40 And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not.  41 And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.  42 And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.  43 And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,  Matthew 8:6-10 (KJV) And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.  And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.   The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.  For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.  10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.  Mark 1:30-31 (KJV)  30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.  31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.  Mark 1:32-34 (KJV)  32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.  33 And all the city was gathered together at the door.  34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.

Our needs…… Mark 6:35-44 (KJV) 35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed: 36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat. 37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?  38 He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. 39 And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass. 40 And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.  41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.  42 And they did all eat, and were filled.  43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.  44 And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.  Luke 5:1-7 (KJV) And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,  And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.  And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.  Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.  And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.  Matthew 6:31-32 (KJV)31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.  33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Our daily faults and failures….. John 21:15-17 (KJV) 15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. 16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.  17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Family Trouble…..  II Samuel 12:16 (KJV) 16 David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.  Mark 5:23 (KJV) 23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

Sorrows….. John 11:21 (KJV)  21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.  Luke 7:11-17 (KJV) 11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. 12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.  13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.  14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.  15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

To get us out of our messes….. 1 Samuel 7:8 (KJV) And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the Lord our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.

Enemies…. When you receive “that letter” in the mail….. II  Kings 19:14-19 (KJV) 14 And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord. 15 And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord, and said, O Lord God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth. 16 Lord, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, Lord, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.  17 Of a truth, Lord, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands, 18 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.  19 Now therefore, O Lord our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the Lord God, even thou only.

Repentance….. Ezra 9:6-15 (KJV) And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens. Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day. And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage. For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem. 10 And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments, 11 Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness. 12 Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever. 13 And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this; 14 Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping? 15 O Lord God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.  Psalm 51:1-2 (KJV) 51 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.  Luke 23:42 (KJV) 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.  Daniel 9:4-20 (KJV) And I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;  We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.  O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.  O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.  To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;  10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.  11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.  12 And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.  13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.  14 Therefore hath the Lord watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the Lord our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.  15 And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.  16 O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.  17 Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord’s sake.  18 O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.  19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.  20 And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God for the holy mountain of my God;

Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

When the enemy has you on the run….. Exodus 14:10 (KJV) 1And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.  II Chronicles 13:14-15 (KJV) 14 And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto the Lord, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.  15 Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

The Seven “Everlastings” of Isaiah (Part 7 of 7)

  • Judgments:  Isaiah 33:14 (KJV)14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
  • Joy:  Isaiah 35:10 (KJV) 10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
  • Salvation:  Isaiah 45:17 (KJV) 17 But Israel shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.

  • Covenant:  Isaiah 55:3 (KJV) Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
  • Light:  Isaiah 60:19 (KJV) 19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

The sixth one of the “Everlastings” is Light….. CHRIST is that LIGHT;  HE is the LIGHT OF THE WORLD:

 Psalm 27:1 (KJV) 27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?  Isaiah 49:6 (KJV) And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.   Isaiah 60:19-20 (KJV) 19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.  20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.  John 1:4 (KJV) In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

HIS WORD is LIGHT:  Psalm 119:105 (KJV) 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:130 (KJV) 130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

We were given a chance at that LIGHT when the Jews rejected CHRIST:  Isaiah 60:3 (KJV) And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.  Isaiah 42:6 (KJV) I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

Everyone is given a chance to come to HIS LIGHT:  John 1:9 (KJV) That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Through HIS LIGHT we see the LIGHT, it shines on our life and reveals our true nature, a sinner lost without GOD:  Psalm 36:9 (KJV) For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. Acts 26:18 (KJV) 18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.  I Peter 2:9 (KJV) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

HIS LIGHT…..

…..shines in the worse places…..  Isaiah 58:10 (KJV) 10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:

…..gives salvation to the soul…..  II Corinthians 4:6 (KJV) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

…..we are the children of LIGHT…..  Ephesians 5:8 (KJV) For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

 …..we are the light of the world…..  Philippians 2:15 (KJV) 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

…..we come forth as brightness…..  Isaiah 62:1  (KJV) 62 For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

…..as a city upon a hill….. Matthew 5:14 (KJV) 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

All our duties as believers are preformed in HIS LIGHT:

Our worship…. II Chronicles 5:13-14 (KJV) 13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.

Our works….. John 9:4 (KJV) I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Our walk….. Ephesians 5:8 (KJV) For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Our witness….. Philippians 2:15 (KJV) 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Our watch….. I Thessalonians 5:5-6 (KJV) Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

HIS LIGHT is promised to the saved who are:

Obedient….. Job 22:28 (KJV) 28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.  Psalm 97:11 (KJV) 11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

Upright….. Psalm 112:4 (KJV) Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

Just….. Proverbs 4:18 (KJV) 18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Benevolent….. Isaiah 58:8 (KJV) Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.
